I recently had the pleasure of visiting Duvalay in Gomersal, a fantastic local and family business built from the ground-up by Liz and Alan Colleran. What started out as a homemade mattress topper designed by and for their family, the ‘Duvalay’ is now a world beating product in the bedding industry, as seen on Dragons Den!
Like many businesses in our constituency, Duvalay was put under enormous pressure by the Coronavirus pandemic, which hit right in the middle of a site move and saw nearly all of their business dry up. However, after breaking into the online sales market and securing a Government backed loan with help from my team, Duvalay are now in a prime position to take on the opportunities and challenges of a new era.
In fact, they are currently hiring machinists and operatives to work in their new Heckmondwike site. If you, or anyone you know, might be interested, please visit their website for more information: https://www.duvalay.co.uk/careers/.
As we move onto the next stages of lockdown and begin our recovery from this awful pandemic, it’s vitally important that we continue to support our local businesses and keep quality jobs here in Batley and Spen.
